SRCS Trustee Referred to Conservative Black Men as 'Ni**as', Masked Himself as a 'Raccoon', & Flew to Africa

Former Democratic Santa Rosa City Schools Trustee Ed Sheffield publicly denied his comments, played the victim, and wore a raccoon mask with a matching sign at a school board meeting

As the former Executive Assistant to the Board & Superintendent of Santa Rosa City Schools, I had a front row seat to the clown show.

Santa Rosa City Schools Trustee Ed Sheffield posted a controversial image on his personal Twitter page under the handle @EdSheffield1. The image featured two Black celebrities, Ice Cube and 50 Cent, who wore hats in support of Mr. Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement. Mr. Sheffield chose to caption the image with the verbiage "Ni**a Please..." I found the statement to be highly offensive.

After I brought this matter to light, Mr. Sheffield completely wiped his Twitter (X) profile from the internet.

When I confronted Trustee Sheffield about his Twitter (X) profile on a public Facebook post, he responded: "MISINFORMATION. I deleted my twitter handle last winter with a goodbye and good luck to Elon Musk".

I responded with multiple date stamped screenshots from his Twitter page which were recent. Therefore, his statement as to deleting his Twitter the prior year was proven completely false.

Trustee Sheffield, who is half black and half white was upset that my ex-fiancé referred to him as a ‘coon’ at a school board meeting. My ex-fiancé was also half black and half white. I made several public statements that I felt that both acted as children, and their comments were inappropriate.

As a response, Trustee Sheffield felt it was appropriate to don a raccoon mask and sign at a May 2023 Board Meeting. He spelled ‘raccoon’ incorrectly, and claimed that his children created the sign.

The Press Democrat chose to omit 90% of what actually transpired regarding Trustee Sheffield in their article about the incident. They did not reach out to me at any point in time for an interview even after I sent them screenshots, and a full outline of the sequence of events.

Following the ‘raccoon incident’, Trustee Sheffield fled to Africa four months later, in September 2023.

Trustee Sheffield attempted to smear my name by disabling the credibility of the evidence I brought forth. The entire school board allowed him to berate me publicly while fully aware that he was lying. If Mr. Sheffield was blatantly lying in this incident, what else was he lying about? What else was the SRCS Board lying about?

While I did not have the energy to entertain a long-winded battle in court, I am grateful that my settlement agreement was finalized.
