Gabriel Albavera Welcomed as New Principal of Roseland University Prep
Former Elsie Allen High School Principal Albavera's new role for the 2025-'26 school year was approved at the May 21, 2025 Regular Board of Trustees Meeting
Per the Board of Trustees Regular Meeting held on May 21, 2025, Mr. Gabriel Albavera was hired as the new Principal for Roseland University Prep beginning August 1, 2025.
Earlier this year, Mr. Albavera was forced out of his former position as Principal of Elsie Allen High School, Santa Rosa City Schools. Principal Gabriel Albavera was placed on paid administrative leave on Feb. 26, 2025 after a student was stabbed on campus.
As the former Executive Assistant to the Board and Superintendent of Santa Rosa City Schools, it saddens me that Mr. Albavera was scapegoated due to poor leadership. Because of mismanagement by the Superintendent and Board, school violence spiraled out of control. Site administrators were left with zero to no resources to combat escalating violence following the removal of the district’s school resource officers. It was much simpler to fire Mr. Albavera, than hold those responsible accountable.
I am grateful that Roseland Public Schools understands the outstanding leadership qualities that Principal Albavera will bring to the table. He is well respected amongst students, staff and the community at large.
