County of Sonoma Issued Hefty Severance Packages to Equity Officer & Health Director
In May 2024, Equity Officer Alegria De La Cruz received a $50k severance package while Health Director Tina Rivera received $165k as of August 2024. Why?
On March 5, 2024, former Sonoma County Equity Officer Alegria De La Cruz sent the following letter of resignation to the Board of Supervisors:
On March 14, 2024, Equity Officer De La Cruz was provided with the following Resignation Agreement from Human Resources:

De La Cruz seems to have forgotten that she is half white and is not actually supportive of her ‘gente’ as she claims:

On July 29, 2024, Sonoma County Health Director Tina Rivera issued the following letter of resignation to the Board of Supervisors and County Administrator Christina Rivera:
On August 15, 2024, Health Director Rivera was issued the following Resignation Agreement by Human Resources:
Per a Press Democrat article dated August 11, 2024:
Ms. Rivera’s tenure has been marked by overdue payments to nonprofit service providers and questions about millions of dollars in payments to DEMA, a for-profit shelter operator that received no-bid contracts from the county.
Per a December 30, 2024 article from KSRO:
New felony charges have been filed against former Harris County, Texas, health director Barbie Robinson, alleging conflicts of interest related to her interactions with DEMA Management and Consulting, a Sonoma County-based homeless services provider.
The charges stem from allegations that DEMA CEO Michelle Patino offered a consulting job to Robinson’s husband while DEMA was seeking an $8 million contract from Robinson’s agency. These latest developments follow previous revelations that Patino hired the daughter of Tina Rivera, Robinson’s successor as Sonoma County Health Services Director, as an independent contractor.
While no criminal charges have been filed in Sonoma County, the Santa Rosa Police Department and the FBI are investigating DEMA’s financial practices following an auditor’s report that raised concerns about the company’s accounting.
DEMA and associated parties are currently being investigated by Sonoma County law enforcement, Texas State law enforcement and the FBI.
As Sonoma County ‘BIPOC’ leaders scream racism from the rooftops, is this an excuse for nefarious activity? While I am aware that racism is prevalent within the County, the false narratives have become played out. White men and women who have criticized the actions under De La Cruz and Rivera’s leadership have been labeled as ‘racist’. As a biracial woman, I have echoed their concerns. Taxpayers should not be labeled as ‘racist’ for questioning appropriate usage of public funds.
